In December of last year, we introduced the Remote Headless feature, which allows you to enjoy games without block sync using a remote blockchain node. This feature has saved many people's time and hard disk, but unfortunately, it has been temporarily discontinued after its last regular release last year due to rapid instability.

We have been reviewing, fixing, and testing the function since the end of last year, and we plan to use it as the default mode again from the next version (v100098) scheduled to be released in the next week.
The biggest reason we couldn't use Remote Headless at the end of the year was that the inter-node block synchronization performance was unreasonably slow. We assumed this problem was a side effect of gRPC version upgrade, and we performed partial rollbacks and tests for it.
However, investigation earlier this week revealed that the current block sync delay is most likely a problem with Libplanet's index database, rather than a load or bug in other parts of the headless.
Therefore, we have revised the codes that have the potential to make the index DB excessive and reflected them in the new version, and we expect that block sync will be possible while continuing to use Remote Headless.
We have been conducting functional tests for community mining since the end of November last year. However, current block / transaction synchronization problems are constantly occurring, and if more people mine blocks without solving these problems to some extent, unnecessary noise such as the “Selfish Minig”, which was a big problem in the community last year, will occur. There is a fear that it may grow.
Therefore, we are working on block/transaction synchronization and the normalization of Remote Headless as the first goals, and when it is determined that these have been achieved to some extent, we are going to conduct the 2nd public test of community mining.

I think we did a lot in 2021, but we still have a long way to go. In 2022, we plan to conduct various updates such as item wearing level, new cooperative content, new worlds, and improved arena. In this process, reflecting NCIP will also take place. Of course, stabilization works will also be carried out at the same time.
We are planning to share a rough roadmap at the end of January. Of course, the roadmap can be changed in the middle. This year, if the roadmap changes, we aim to share it more quickly and in detail.
We look forward to your cooperation in 2022. Happy weekend with Nine Chronicle! 😎
